After fundraiser, NGO buys zoo to “free” animals

After being bought by an NGO, the Pont-Scorff zoo is set to be transformed into a wildlife rehabilitation centre. Rewild, a coalition of seven associations, collected €650,000 in a fundraiser and has until 31 May to gather necessary funds for the purchase.

A red panda cub has been born in an Indian zoo as part of a conservation breeding program to increase the population of the endangered animal. With habitats under threat in the Eastern Himalayas and China, red pandas are considered endangered and are highly vulnerable to infectious diseases.
