Pro-choice activists clash with police during a protest in Mexico City calling for abortion to be decriminalised across the country. Abortion has been decriminalised in four of Mexico's 32 states, in the first 12 weeks. Earlier this month the Supreme Court ruled that women should not be punished for abortion, opening the way for them to access the procedure across the country without fear of being prosecuted.

Images shows police hammering their way into the prison where rioting left at least 116 inmates dead, some of them decapitated, as rival drug gangs went to war armed with guns and grenades. Police later said they regained control of the prison on Thursday.
Police say they have resumed control of a prison in Ecuador which has been the scene of a deadly riot. Fighting between rival gangs has left at least 118 people dead.
Ecuadorian police have seized 2.5 tons of cocaine in two separate operations. A ton of was bound for Europe. They have also arrested five suspects.

Researchers in California unveiled a bipedal robot on Wednesday (October 6) that combines walking with flying to create a new type of locomotion, allowing it to jump, skateboard and walk on a slackline.
