Lassa mammarena virus is an arenavirus that causes Lassa hemorrhagic fever, a type of viral hemorrhagic fever, in humans and other primates. Lassa mammarena virus is an emerging virus and a select agent, requiring Biosafety Level 4-equivalent containment.
