The Defence Headquarters, yesterday, said end to banditry and insurgency was near, drawing inspiration from enhanced kinetic and non-kinetic operations of the military.
Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche, who exuded confidence during the weekly briefing of defence correspondents in Abuja, noted that the military had plugged the recruitment of insurgents by the Boko Haram sect in the North East geo-political zone.

Students at the school in Nigeria who escaped a raid by gunmen that saw hundreds of their friends kidnapped have been speaking about their ordeal. More than 300 students from the all-boys Government Science school in Kankara, in the northwestern Katsina state, who were abducted on Friday night remained missing on Sunday.

In an audio message, a man identifying himself as Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau claimed that the group is "behind what happened in Katsina," local media reported.
