Motorbike taxi apps jostle for trade on crowded Lagos roads

Known for its nightmare traffic and badly maintained roads, getting to work in Nigerian capital Lagos is a daily ordeal that often lasts hours. Sensing an opportunity, a growing number of ride hailing services have stepped into the chaos -- bringing order to the "okada" motorbike taxis that have long whizzed perilously around Lagos.

A helicopter crashed into a building in the Oba Akran Ikeja area of Lagos State and burst into flames on Tuesday. Our correspondent gathered that the incident happened at about 3:30 pm.Though two people believed to be the pilots of the helicopter were rescued, it is not clear how many passengers were on board. Lagos Commissioner of Police Idowu Owohunwa visited the site, on Oba Akran Avenue, Ikeja, where a light aircraft crash landed.
