Deaths were reported in Togo after security forces moved against protesters across the West African state. Opposition leaders accused "regime soldiers" of opening fire and urged their supporters to continue street demos.

In a video released a day before he passed away, Republic of Congo presidential candidate Guy-Brice Parfait Kolelas addressed supporters from his hospital bed, calling on them to 'fight for change as I fight for my life'. In France, coming out of the closet and living openly as a member of the LGBTI+ community can be a significant psychological, emotional and social challenge. Until just 40 years ago, it was also a legal one. In 1982, the age of consent was lowered from 21 to 18 for homosexuals in France, making it the same for everyone.
