Sudan brokers a new 7 day ceasefire pact

In tonight's edition: A new week long truce is agreed in Sudan as the African Union holds an emergency meeting in Ethiopia on how to de-escalate the conflict that's already cost at least 500 lives in under 3 weeks.

In an address to the nation, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev says Armenia has "violated" the US-brokered ceasefire. But Armenia's defence ministry says Azerbaijani forces have violated the truce with artillery fire on combat positions in various parts of the frontline. In Gaza, a week since the ceasefire between Hamas and Israel was announced, many residents come out to enjoy the beaches. The truce ended 11 days of devastating Israeli bombardment of Gaza, killing 248 Palestianians, and rockets and other fire into Israel from the coastal strip that killed 12.

Delegations from Israel and Egypt meet in Cairo and Jerusalem to discuss establishing a permanent ceasefire between the Jewish state and Gaza's Hamas rulers. Egypt played a pivotal role in negotiating a ceasefire earlier this month between Israel and Gaza's Palestinian Islamist rulers Hamas, bringing an end to 11 days of deadly fighting.
