Sixty years ago, French and Algerian officials inked a peace deal, the Évian Accords, bringing an end to an eight-year war and paving the way for Algerian independence. Also, a 19-year-old woman says she was raped by Sudanese security forces on the sidelines of a protest. Rights groups fear sexual violence is being used as a weapon of war. And we bring you a report on Ugandan efforts to track down the Islamist ADF militia, an operation that takes them into neighbouring DR Congo.

On the 60th anniversary of Algerian independence, we take a look at the French exhibitions paying tribute to Algeria's freedom and exploring the two countries' shared history. In Marseille, the Museum of European and Mediterranean Civilisations has dedicated an exhibit to resistance icon Emir Abdelkader, the religious-turned-military leader who led the struggle against France's colonial invasion.
