Why tech giants dropped Uganda and Trump from their platforms

Ahead of Thursday’s presidential election in Uganda, Facebook has taken down a government-backed network, accusing it of using fake accounts to post information about the election.⁣⁣ Coming so soon after some social media platforms took down accounts belonging to Donald Trump, the move has raised questions about the role social media companies play in regulating online communications.⁣⁣
