Ugandan lawmaker and musician Bobi Wine announces 2021 presidential bid

Uganda votes for a new president in January. Popular musician and challenger Bobi Wine wants to build a united coalition. In his way is President Yoweri Museveni, who has ruled with an iron fist for over three decades.

Uganda's main opposition leader has asked a tribunal in The Hague to investigate his country's president for human rights abuses. At an online press conference, police accosted Bobi Wine and dragged him from his car.

Bobi Wine, the opposition presidential candidate in Uganda's upcoming elections, has laid a complaint with the International Criminal Court against President Yoweri Museveni and others, for crimes against humanity, among other accusations.

Wine, whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi, was doing a live radio interview with Kenya's Hot 96 FM station when the reported raid took place. Ugandan authorities are yet to comment.
