A train derailment and subsequent fire prompted evacuations in northwest Iowa on Sunday, due to concerns over the train’s cargo of ammonium nitrate. An 8-kilometre radius around the derailment site of 47 train cars was evacuated and a community hall was made available for evacuees.

Malaysian authorities are investigating a collision between metro trains in Kuala Lumpur that injured more than 200 people. The accident happened just before 9:00 pm (1300 GMT) when a packed train collided with a second that was empty and heading in the opposite direction.
