Black bear Takoda enjoys a refreshing pool dip at Oregon Zoo while playing with a ball. The zoo resident splashes around the wading pools, enjoying a warm day in Portland. Takoda, whose name means “friend to all” in Sioux, arrived at the Oregon Zoo in November 2010.

Five Siberian tiger cubs, born on 27th June this year at a South Korean zoo, were shown to the public for the first time on Thursday. The Siberian tigers (also known as 'Korean tigers' in South Korea) are listed as endangered species and protected by the government. A zookeeper at Everland theme park in Yongin says it's 'rare' for five tiger cubs to be born at once. The cubs' names -- 'Areum', 'Daun', 'Oori', 'Nara', 'Gangsan' (which means 'Our country's beautiful landscape' when read together) were selected by an online vote.

ZooTampa in Florida vaccinates a skunk with a specific vaccine developed exclusively for animals. The zoo in Tampa has begun to vaccinate animals who have been identified as most susceptible to Covid-19. The use of the special vaccine, which was developed exclusively for animals by the Michigan-based veterinary pharmaceutical company Zoetis, has been used for vaccinating those species that are known to be more vulnerable to contracting the virus in other zoological organizations throughout the United States. ZooTampa says it has received a shipment of approximately 220 doses – enough to vaccinate roughly 19 species which includes 93 animals such as Florida panthers, skunks, otters and primates.

A lion at Ghana's Accra Zoo mauled a man to death after he entered its enclosure, the government said in a statement. A security official on routine patrol noticed a middle-aged man had climbed over the tall mesh fence enclosing a lion, a lioness and two cubs around noon on Sunday.
