Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister told FRANCE 24 on Sunday that the kingdom fully supported King Abdullah II of Jordan after the Jordanian authorities claimed they had foiled a "malicious plot" involving a former crown prince who had liaised with unspecified "foreign parties".

Jordan's King Abdullah II will entrust a family member to mediate with his half brother Prince Hamzah, the royal court has announced. Hamzah is accused of aiding a plot to "destabilize the kingdom's security."

Hamzah bin Hussein was the favored son of Jordan's late king. He was twice refused the throne by his brother Abdullah II, who took the crown. Now, Prince Hamzah will "place myself in the hands of His Majesty the King."

The kingdom has barred all media from publishing content relating to an alleged plot involving ex-Crown Prince Hamzah. The order came after the prince pledged loyalty to his half-brother, King Abullah II.
