Hong Kong: Oscars won’t be aired for first time since 1969

Local TV has decided against showing the Academy Awards, a regular fixture on Hong Kong screens since 1969. Content concerns mean Hollywood's top awards may also not be seen on mainland China.

The Academy Awards looked different this year: The red carpet was hemmed, and the after-parties were cut. The ceremony was held almost two months later than usual, at an in-person event split between the Dolby Theater in Hollywood and Union Station in downtown Los Angeles.
