Director Brett Morgen on ‘Moonage Daydream’ and how David Bowie saved his life

It's almost as if David Bowie has come back to life to narrate the movie "Moonage Daydream", a vivid collage of the music, art and ideas that make up his extraordinary legacy. US filmmaker Brett Morgen spent years sifting through endless audio and film archives and the result is an innovative, sensorial portrait of a man with many faces.

The show director for the Tokyo Olympics opening ceremony, former comedian Kentaro Kobayashi, has been fired on the eve of the event for making jokes referencing the Holocaust, in the latest blow for organisers of the pandemic-delayed Games. Tokyo 2020 has been plagued by a series of gaffes and missteps by Olympic officials, as well as pandemic restrictions.

Boasting giant sandworms, warring interstellar tribes and an A-list cast spanning Timothee Chalamet, Javier Bardem and Zendaya, the long-delayed epic based on a beloved novel has already drawn strong reviews.
