Gas flaring on the rise

The harmful practice is still happening about 60 years after Nigeria began crude oil production. In 2016, flared gas rose from 244.84 billion Standard Cubic Feet (SCF) to 287.59 billion SCF in 2017, while penalty stood at N10/MSCF (equivalent to $0.03).
